The project consisted of the site adaptation and construction for the LGSU CAMP MAJIED AL ASAD IRAQ.At the moment, the installation is located within the region of Al Asad Airbase, located about 100 miles (160 km) west of Baghdad with a perimeter of more than 15 miles (24 km), and is the second largest USAF base in Iraq. The constructed buildings have been utilized as the home for the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF). Other major tenants have included the 82nd Airborne Division Advise & Assist Brigade, 321st Sustainment Brigade, VOD-1,[1] VAQ- 142, Navy Customs Battalion Juliet, elements of the Iraqi Army’s 7th Division, and the United States Air Force (USAF). The camp installation is comprimising of 300,000 square meters.

As the project was located at Al Asad Airbase, Gilgamis Group gained the advantage of its facilities including batch plants, testing laboratories and gravel processing facilities in addition to the construction machinery, Gilgamis Group was prompt to response to the majority of the materials and construction machinery with an inhouse capacity. Though the envrionment was challenging during the Operation Iraq Freedom, Gilgamis Group proved its skills in logistics to feed the other material requirements with a sourcing capability from the neighbouring countries as well as USA.

Furthermore, Gilgamis Group supported the project with a temporary labor camp meeting the standards including living units, ablution and sanitary facilities, etc…

The scope included management, planning, design, material, labor and equipment necessary to construct all utilities, road infrastructure and paving, buildings, force protection measures, site security, mine clearance activities and all other features as required to provide a completed and useable facility (Commercial and Instutional Housing Construction-NAICS code 236220). Site work and design to include, standard construction amenities such as underground utilities, site grading, electrical, communications infrastructure, detailing etc. was accomplished by Gilgamis Group. The work within this contract was performed in accordance with current U.S. design and International Building Codes (IBC), Life Safety Codes (NFPA-101), UFC 4-010-01, DoD Minimum Anti-Terrorism Standards for Buildings.

This work includes the contracting works for the construction of office headquarters, command control facility, militaryclassrooms, billeting, general’s quarters and including the maintenance shop and other utilities including HVAC systems, installation and duct work, fire protection utilities and all electrical works.maintenance shop. Work included new construction and partial demolition of interior doors and relocation of existing spaces; mechanical work included HVAC systems repair and installation of new duct work; fire protection work included modification of existing wet pipe system if any; electrical work includes removal and replacement of existing lighting, receptacles, conduit, etc and various telecom cabling changes to meet new standards through out the existing structures as well. . Antiterrorism/Force protection measures and sustainment mandates were incorporated with the work commenced.

Construction-Habbaniyah Police Headquarters-P002444

The Police Headquarters Project was performed at Al Habbaniyah (Arabic: الحبانية (which is a city at Al Asad Airbase (Al-Anbar Province), in central Iraq. Geographically, Anbar governorate consider part of the Arabian Peninsula. The region’s geography is a combination of steppe and true desert, characterised by a desert climate, low rainfall and a large variation in temperature between day and night. Summer temperatures rise to 42 degrees Celsius, whilst in the winter average lows reach 9 degrees Celsius. The northwesterly and southwesterly winds are sometimes to a maximum speed of 21 m / sec. Average rainfall in winter to 115mm.

The construction scope included the design and build of simple protected shelters for the Police Headquarters at Habbaniyah to include an administration room, barracks, a training room, storage and support buildings, dining facilities, perimeter wall with guard towers, Entry Control Point (ECP) with Guard House, and all utilities and related infrastructure to serve a population of approximately 100 or 150 personnel (Commercial and Instutional Housing Construction-NAICS code 236220). Gilgamis  handled the project from site adapt to the finishes and provided a successful completion of the services.
The project had regional challenges with an austre climate as well as the logistical factors for the procurement and transportation of the construction materials, equipment and construction machinery. Gilgamis Group was to provide all life support to its personnel including the temporary living units utilized for the onsite personnel with a project management office. The sanitary facilities such as laundry,ablution and dining facilities including all necessary plumbing and temporary power generation were provided. Furthermore, the onsite security of the personnel as well as the equipment, machinery and the project warehouse was provided by Gilgamis Group. The acquisition was performed in resticted environment limited to Tetra Tech Inc. prequalified subcontractors and issued as a Design-Bid-Build Request for Proposal (RFP) which was resulted in an award of a single Firm Fixed Price (FFP) Design-Build construction subcontract. The project was completed in 180 days in complience with the project timeline and conditions submitted in our initial bid.

Supply and Installation- Lighting Fixtures

For this fixed-price contract (The North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) for this procurement is 238210, Electrical Contractors and Other Wiring Installation Contractors.), Gılgamış  furnished all tools, equipment, material, permits, labor, and supervision necessary to accomplish the work by providing construction services and materials necessary for the replacement of interior and extrior lighting fixtures at Al Asad Base, Al Anbar Province, Iraq . As per the supply and installation contract we removed and re-install the existing light fixtures and lamps on a circuit basis to meet the electrical code, and Dispose of all light fixtures removed. We provided a turn-key project satisfying all Local, State, and Federal requirements.

Gılgamış was  responsible for any damage to adjacent equipment and miscellaneous objects that may become damaged during installation of the paving. We made repairs to meet or exceed conditions prior to damage. At the time of the bid, we had facilities at the project location and we visited the site to observe existing conditions.  We have provided persons experienced performing this type of work.
